Geotech Engineering & Testing, Inc. is providing the structural engineering design services for the new Bath County Elementary School to be located in Bath County, Kentucky. This new school is proposed to be a one-story, 53,000 square foot facility comprised of a main entryway/lobby area and one wing adjacent to either side of the main entryway.

One wing is comprised of the computer lab, administrative offices (guidance, nurse’s office/first aid, principal’s office, main reception area and work areas), resource room, mechanical/electrical room, cafeteria and kitchen, and 11 classrooms. The second wing will house the media center/library, art room, music room, auditorium, and 11 additional classrooms.

The structural design of the building is a reinforced masonry bearing/shear wall system, designed to ACI design standards. The roof will be supported by steel joists designed to the standards of the steel joist institute. All design is in accordance with the 2007 Kentucky Building Code as well as the seismic provisions of Bath County, Kentucky.
