Comments

The Breathitt County Health Department is a new one-story, 19,000 square foot facility located in Jackson, Kentucky. Geotech Engineering & Testing, Inc. is teaming with Judd Hubbard, AIA to provide the structural design for this new facility.

Spaces in the design include multiple exam rooms, multiple doctor’s offices, waiting areas, community room, nurses station/triage area, home health area, and multiple storage areas for each department.

The structure of the building is constructed of steel columns, beams and bar joists. The exterior walls consist of Koreteck panels. The panels are made with a solid 20-guage steel core surrounded by Perform Guard EPS insulation. The panel system is a complete envelope system that replaces the metal studs, insulation and exterior sheathing. The Koreteck wall panels also double as the wind and seismic resisting system for the building. The front elevation of the building is emphasized using the signature v-shaped roof design with extended eaves.
