Murray State University-Round-A-Bout - Murray, Kentucky
Project Data Owner: Murray State University
Project Description
|
Comments A proposed recreation facility necessitated the relocation of four different roadways on the Murray State University campus in Murray, Kentucky. An intersection was designed using a round-a-bout to limit the right of way and facilitate traffic. Stained and stamped concrete was used in the intersection to create a more aesthetically pleasing design. A variety of utilities presented diverse design considerations. Existing fiber optic lines required the most attention as they can only be shifted over short distances without total replacement. Gas, water and power lines were also encountered and replaced. Two practice fields covering over 100,000 sq. ft. were also designed in this project due to relocation of the roadway and new sidewalks were added to ensure safety for pedestrian traffic.
